The Philippines is studying the possibility of using virgin coconut oil to fight Sars, Department of Health (DOH) officials said. Virgin coconut oil comes from the flesh of freshly-harvested coconuts unlike the traditional coconut oil which comes from processed coconut flesh.
Health Secretary Manuel Dayrit said virgin coconut oil is high in lauric acid which has been found to be effective against lipid-coated viruses, like the one causing Sars.
Dayrit said his pharmacologist father had suggested the oil may be an effective tool against lipid-coated micro-organisms. (www.philippinenews.com)

Recipe of VCO

VCO SHAKE
Materials:
  • Hot water (50 cc)
  • Fresh strawberry (50 grams)
  • Banana (100 grams)
  • Lemon orangeade (1 tablespoon)
  • Yoghurt feel netral (200 grams)
  • Sugar (20 grams)
  • VCO (2 tablespoon)
  • ice cube (small piece) (100 grams)
  • Egg yolk (1 item)
  • Honey (1 tablespoon)

Way of Making:
  • Mixing egg yolk with honey, mix till flatten. Pouring hot water, then mix till flatten.
  • Cut circularly of banana and enhance lemon orangeade.
  • Mix strawberry, banana, yoghurt skim and sugar with blender.
  • Input VCO, and egg yolk mixture and honey then mix
  • Hereinafter, input ice cube and blender again.
  • Then pour in glass and serve.


Mixed Salad with VCO
Materials for Salad:
  • Smoke beef, slice of parallelogram (100 grams)
  • VCO (1 tablespoon)
  • Sweet maize (75 grams)
  • Red bean (50 grams)
  • Flesh of tomato, slice ½ x ½ x 3 cm (50 grams)
  • Japan cucumber, slice ½ x ½ x 3 cm (75 grams)
  • Lettuce, coarse slice (50 grams)

  • Chop up of bombai onion (1 tablespoon).
  • Chop up of red onion (shallot) (1 tablespoon)
  • Five spece powder (½ teaspoon)
  • Chili powder (½ teaspoon)
  • Oregano powder (½ teaspoon)
  • Salt (½ teaspoon)
  • Honey (1 tablespoon)
  • Powder sugar (½ tablespoon)
  • Lemon orangeade (50 cc)
